your challenges

If you are experiencing any of the following challenges, the:EliteFirm is a must:

Lack of capacity - your are overwhelmed with work and don’t seem to be able to keep up. You are not sure which work is profitable, but you end up doing it all, as you are constantly up against it with other peoples’ deadlines and urgency.

Team - you struggle to recruit and retain great talent. If you are being honest, you wouldn’t probably rehire all of your current team members. They are not engaged, don’t really participate (or contribute) in meetings unless pushed, and are out the door at 5:30pm.

Lack of time - you and/or your team members are frequently saying “I just don’t have the time”. This may be in response to a great new idea, more work, new clients or working on the firm.

Work with clients you don’t love - you have clients that are constantly complaining, drop their records in late, query fees, are slow to pay and everyone groans when they call on the phone. They demand attention and suck your already scarce time. You are not proactively spending time with your better clients, because they just get on with it and rarely complain, even though they may not be getting the service they feel they deserve.

Lack of execution - you lack clarity of vision and purpose. You may not have an effective competitive strategy. Great ideas don’t get implemented. The team is constantly chasing shiny objects or the next great thing. Projects are not completed and successfully embedded within the firm’s processes.

Pricing - your team are afraid to have ‘difficult’ conversations with clients. You haven’t increased prices in years. There is no clear menu of pricing or structured process to frequently re-price engagements. The quality of client records are not agreed in advance and are not checked before commencing a job. Value pricing is not operating effectively or at all. Clients don’t understand the value or what they are paying for.

Struggle to introduce value added services - you’ve tried to introduce added value services in the past, such as business advisory. Clients don’t get it or want to pay for it. Their team don’t have the skills or the confidence. Senior team lack capacity to deliver. Technology fails to deliver. It’s easier to stick with compliance services.

Over-engineering compliance - your engagement programmes and working papers get bigger every year. You follow Institute ‘best practice’ rather than what are the basics required. Clients are not paying for an enhanced service. You rarely review systems and processes and ask, “is this really necessary” , “can we do this a better way” or “is this really required and is the clients paying for this or aware that we do it”.

Scope creep - you team are eager to please and do work (behind the scenes) without involving the client. Clients ask for things that the are not within the original scope and the team just do it. Records are rarely delivered in the agreed state and the team just sort. The original scope is never fully understood or documented. Clients get used to being over-serviced and come to expect it as the norm.

All of which result in the firm not getting paid what you (as a team) are truly worth!

The purpose of an elite firm is not to make money.

It is imperative to make money, but it is not the purpose.

The purpose of an elite firm is to enrich lives, the lives of both team and clients.

the six pillars of success

  • ✺ Clarity

“If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there!” It's essential to clearly know your vision and why your firm is in business. You also need to know what your key metrics are, as well as the drivers of success. Having a handle on your potential, as well as your clients', is a must too.

  • ✺ Focus

It's so important to only be doing what’s going to make your boat go faster, and utilising the four steps of delegation for everything else. Having the right team members doing the right work on the right clients will enable the firm to be hugely successful. The three points of failure are also essential to avoid.

  • ✺ Resources

Building an able team around you enables you to successfully leverage your vision of the firm and help more business owners. Getting the right incentives in place is crucial as well as building a culture of success and continuous improvement. Personal development is key for all team members.

  • ✺ Skills

You and your team have so many skills you don't even recognise, because you learnt them so long ago. But you don’t know what you don’t know. We’ll help you fill in the gaps with small tweaks will allow your team to thrive and achieve Elite Firm status.

  • ✺ Structure

Systemisation enables a good business to become amazing! With the same great results, for the firm and clients, every single time. It's about structure for the team too with meeting rhythms, default diaries and specific workfows. This enables quick training of new team members too.

  • ✺ Plan

This step is last for a reason. Creating a plan without knowing the previous steps will lead you down a dead end, wasting your time and energy. But a plan is crucial, as is knowing who is doing what and by when. As well as comparing that plan to your actual progress to see if you're on track or not.

the 14-step implementation plan

Over the course of the twelve month programme, we will follow a clear 14 step implementation plan, that works!

This is not theory, waffle or influencer stuff that hasn’t been tried in practice or in real life.

We know the issues and challenges that accountants face, because we’ve been there.

We also know what works, because we’ve run multi-award winning accounting firms with above average earnings per partner, revenue per employee and gross and operating profit margins.

We have embedded cultures of innovation and continuous improvement within our own accounting firms.

We are engaged by various Institutes, networks and world-class accounting groups for our unparalleled education programmes and solutions.

The implementation plan is built on the years of success of the founders of both the original bootcamp and the re:boot.

The plan is in a very specific order to ensure ultimate success, quick wins (that engage the team and pay for future work on the firm) and so that changes will stick!

We work and have worked with hundreds of accounting firms around the world and are constantly adapting our tools to an increasingly complex and ever changing world!

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • Whilst the:EliteFirm programme builds on the great content at BootCamp, it is a complete start-to-finish and standalone programme.

Those who attend BootCamp will no doubt want the extra and more in-depth content and complete 14 step implementation plan.

Likewise those who attend the programme may want to attend the unique BootCamp experience.

  • the:EliteFirm is designed for all firms of all sizes and all results. It will help you understand your true potential, with detailed benchmarked data, and work with you to achieve that potential.

Therefore those firms that are already successful may find even more potential and will likely achieve it faster, building on past success.

Alternatively, firms that are not as successful at they wish, will see a world of possibilities.

  • Sometimes it can be hard to get all partners on board or on the same page. So, if your fellow partners are reluctant to attend, you can still take part and work on your department or area of the business. Show them your success and then get them to join you.

If your fellow partners do want to come along, there is a special discount. It is only £150 p/m (plus sales tax) per additional person to cover the hotel day delegate rates.

  • Both hosts have vast experience in selling accounting firms and are well aware of the issues and challenges. the:EliteFirm will boost both revenue and profit, ensuring a higher multiple on exit. If you are selling to existing partners, attending the programme will boost the firm’s cash reserves to enable a buyout.

  • This is a classic mind-limiting factor that often stifles progress and execution in accounting firms and their clients.

If you ever hear yourself saying “I don’t have the time”, this is the very reason to attend. We will cover topics such as; time management, delegation, client selection, over-engineering compliance. All designed to boost capacity and free up time.

  • Part of the programme is online, such as the monthly calls and accountability. Unfortunately the workshop sessions are best run in-person. If you have been to BootCamp you will understand why. There really is no substitute for running the six workshop sessions live. The power is immense.
